The Branch Museum’s February Programming
Family Programming, Lectures, and an Exhibit Opening!
This is a great time to visit the Branch Museum in RVA. Many exhibits and programs are FREE to all; some are free to members with a $10-20 fee for non-members. Check website to confirm fees, if any.
The Branch Museum of Architecture and Design is pleased to announce a full roster of programming in February 2018.
Family Build Day – February 3rd, 11am – 3pm Co-presented by The Branch Museum of Architecture and Design and Science Matters, an educational program of the Community Idea Stations. Join us for a special Family Build Day at The Branch Museum of Architecture and Design. Learn about careers in architecture, engineering, construction, design and experience a variety of fun hands-on building stations. $10 per child; parents come free.
Family Music Day – February 10th, 10am and 11:30am Join City Singers Youth Choir and The Branch Museum for a Family Music Day, exploring principles of music and architecture like rhythm, repetition, symmetry, and balance! City Singers will provide various instruments for kids to play and explore. For ages 4-10. Instruments made possible by CultureWorks Grants Program. Free but advance registration required!
Frozen Music: Frank Gehry and the Walt Disney Concert Hall – The Branch Museum’s inaugural exhibit returns to our galleries after fifteen years! On view in our galleries February 12 – April 14 will be over 100 images of the construction of Frank Gehry’s Walt Disney Concert Hall, photographed by Gil Garcetti. Opening Reception on Saturday, February 17th, from 1:00 – 4:00; free and no registration required.
Masouma Delijam Lecture – February 15th, 5 – 7:30pm Senior Architect on the Darul Aman Palace Restoration project in Kabul, Afghanistan, Masouma Delijam will lecture on the nature and scope of the project, and her work in Afghanistan. The lecture will be followed by a question & answer session. $10 per person; free for members
About the Northside Streetcar Suburbs Lecture – February 22nd, 5 – 7:30pm Join us for a panel discussion presented by Historic Richmond, focusing on the neighborhoods of Northside, some of the first electric street car suburbs in the country. Learn about the history of the neighborhood as on of the first “rent to buy” developments, its distinctive architecture and the current revitalization efforts. $20 per person
February House Tours – Feb 2 + Feb 18, 2 – 3pm – Join The Branch Museum of Architecture and Design for an architectural tour of its historic home, the Branch House. See rooms rarely opened to the public and discover the distinctive architectural features that make this Tudor-Revival home, designed by renowned architect John Russell Pope, an important historic and cultural landmark. Tours are $10 person; free for members

The Branch Museum of Architecture and Design is located at 2501 Monument Avenue in Richmond, Virginia’s historic Fan District. The mission of The Branch is to elevate awareness of the transformative power of architecture and design. The museum is open to the public Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m.
