It doesn’t need to be Valentine’s Day for you to enjoy a “family date”. Check out these places for an affordable AND fun outing for the whole family (grandparents included!).
Taylor Made Chocolate
Such a unique and fun activity! Tour Taylor Made Chocolate Factory, and learn all about the history of chocolate! There’s even a tasting!! Tours are Tues. – Sat. 10AM – 6PM – no reservation needed unless you have a group of 10+. ($12 adults; $8 under 18; kids 6 and under FREE)
Unplugged RVA
I gotta shoutout Unplugged – love this place! Last school year my dad and my daughter went here once a week and the staff was incredible (not just because they make great game recommendations). They remembered their orders every week, and even sat them in a spot without much noise so my Dad could hear better. We come for the games but stay because of the wonderful staff and delicious cookies!

Park & Coffee
Play at lovely Goyne Park, where you can enjoy the playground, trails and soccer fields. Then head 5 minutes down the road to Grant Coffee Co. – this community-center coffee shop has comfy seating, toys for kids and we LOVE the muffins!

There’s just something about sitting in the rocking chairs out here. So relaxing! You can rent nature-themed backpacks, get a lesson on bees, enjoy snacks and of course, my kid’s favorite: the honey sticks!
King’s Korner
Banana pudding…views of airplanes…what else could you want?! We like meeting my parents here for lunch at the buffet – this is a great multi-generational outing. While you enjoy your meal you can watch planes come and go!
