Love Ridge Mountain Lodging creates a one of a kind family-friendly vacation. My family recently had the chance to spend 3 days at Love Ridge, and we loved every moment – taking in the crisp, mountain air, enjoying s’mores around the firepit, and exploring nearby parks and trails.
Love Ridge Mountain Lodging
Located near Shenandoah National Park, Love Ridge cabins offer a unique and restorative venue. My family of 4 stayed in Hanging Rock Cabin, a cozy cabin close to the kid’s play area. We could see our children from the cabin, and felt very safe letting them play in the open area, complete with an obstacle course, swings, and picnic table.
The children’s play area is included with no extra fee, as is access to the Game Shed, which was a quick walk from our cabin. The Game Shed has puzzles, outside games, like badminton, books, and DVDs.
While my family stayed in a cabin, there are also several campsites. Included in the campsite reservation is the option to use the large kitchen area.
In addition to Love Ridge as a fabulous family vacation venue, it would also be a great spot for a family reunion, as you could have families in separate cabins, but play and eat together on the beautiful grounds.
Love Ridge Cabin Amenities
Each cabin is equipped with a full refrigerator/freezer and stove. Dishes and cookware are supplied, as well. This made such a difference for us in our spending on this trip. We did not spend money eating out, as we packed our meals and made them “at home.” Our children especially loved grilling their own hot dogs!
Hanging Rock Cabin is ideal for a small family or a couple’s getaway as it is quite cozy, offering one bathroom, with a large tub/shower. My kids especially loved their bunk beds, and the comfy couch.
Love Ridge Add-Ons
There are several options to add to your experience, like a Stargazing Experience, or E-Bike Rental.
Additionally, Love Ridge offers guests lasagna, a snack package, a s’mores package, and more! While all of these have an added fee, the convenience is important after a long day in the mountains.
Nearby (affordable) Activities
There is so much to do in the area that we are already planning a second trip! About 10 minutes from Love Ridge, Lake Sherando has a large swimming lake, fishing, hiking, picnicking, and more! The fee is only $8/car for the entire day!
My family loved hiking the Lakeside Trail, fishing, and relaxing in our hammocks at Lake Sherando.
Another activity only about 15 minutes from Love Ridge is Spruce Creek Park. There is a large, natural playground with a stream, as well as Rockfish Valley Foundation Natural History Center, which offers free admission. We enjoyed hiking part of the Rockfish Valley Trail from Spruce Creek Park.
Finally, for those heading from or towards Richmond, the Blue Ridge Tunnel is a must-do hike! Pack your headlamps and flashlights and make memories walking through this historic railroad tunnel. Again, this is a completely free activity.
Love Ridge Mountain Lodging
I highly recommend Love Ridge for any family, groups of families, or couple searching for a way to not only save money on vacation but have fun. There is truly no other place like Love Ridge for my family. We came back completely rejuvenated, rested, and happy. Consider Love Ridge for your next family trip!
