Maymont opens registration to the public on January 22 for its expanded line-up of summer camps for preschoolers through eighth graders who enjoy outdoor exploration, animal encounters and historical discovery through games, crafts and engaging activities.
Each camp is led by experienced staff and includes new adventures every day, taking full advantage of Maymont’s 100-acre grounds.
With sessions like “Rhythm & Rhyme,” “Storybook Science,” “That’s Gross!” and “Life on the Wild Side,” each is designed to tap into children’s natural curiosity about animal life cycles, plant adaptations, and digging into mysteries.
One camp, “Tales From the 100-Acre Wood,” brings the beloved Winnie-the-Pooh characters to life with real-life encounters with bears, pigs, owls and donkeys. “History’s Mysteries” appeals to students curious about oral and social history, archaeology, natural history and art history.
“There’s no better place to spend the summer than among Maymont’s rolling hills, winding waterways, animal habitats and historic buildings,” said Krista Weatherford, Director of Programming and Community Engagement.
“Based on last summer’s most popular camps, we’ve added several new camps aimed at pre-k through third grade campers, and there are new programs for every age group.”
Camp sessions are either half- or full-day, with shorter sessions for younger campers and longer sessions for older campers.
Maymont members starting at the Family level receive a discount and early access to registration.
