The Museums for All Initiative is a program from the Institute of Museum and Library Services that aims to make museums accessible to all families, regardless of financial status.
Through this program, anyone who receives SNAP is eligible to access over 1,000 museums for a discounted rate (no more than $3), simply by presenting their EBT card.
There are 10 participating institutions in Richmond. The information below shows the admission cost for individuals receiving SNAP benefits at each institution.
Richmond-area Museums for All Participants
Agecroft Hall & Gardens : FREE admission
Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden : $1; Youth 17 & under: FREE
Science Museum of Virginia: $2 adults; $1 seniors, youth, preschoolers; OR $25, two adults and all children under 18 in the household receive a year of free Museum admission
Virginia Museum of History & Culture: FREE
During the summer VMHC offers FREE programming for children. Read more about it here:
Virginia Museum of Fine Arts: $2/ticket for special exhibitions (limit of 4 tickets)
The VMFA also offers FREE Open Studio Sundays once a month. Read more about it here:
Maymont: FREE admission to Robins Nature Center and historic audio tours for cardholder and 3 others.
Children’s Museum of Richmond: $2 admission for up to 6 individuals.
