In fact, there are several local tea houses where you can savor various teas in an elegant setting, while partaking in each venue’s unique tea-time ritual. Richmond is home to charming tea houses with stunning interiors that create the most relaxing ambiance.
Holiday get togethers, birthdays and anniversaries are a great time to visit Richmond’s tea houses. (And a gift certificate can makes a special present.) Here are a few with varying price points. As always, be sure to check websites or call first to verify information.
Blue Willow Tea Room

This lovely teahouse was formerly a 19th century Federal Townhouse. Located in the heart of Old Towne Petersburg, Blue Willow Tea Room offers a traditional English tea, luncheon tea, Victorian tea, or full afternoon tea.
Teas are from Harney & Sons and The Republic of Teas. The Half Cream Tea starts at $7; this is the most affordable tea option we found in all of RVA! Prices go up to $58 for the Full Grande Tea. Reservations are recommended.
Cuppa Cheer
The menu changes monthly at Cuppa Cheer, located in Ruther Glen, Virginia. Offering unique teas, like Morrocan Mint and Rose Kissed Jasmine, this tea house is certainly one to visit.
Hobby Hill Farm

Offering sandwiches, scones, sweet pastries and cakes in addition to your tea, Hobby Hill Farm lets patrons pick their own tea and enjoy a peaceful afternoon. The afternoon tea is $38.95; menus are available on the website. Special teas, like Valentine’s Day and Holiday Tea are available as well.
Reservations are required for all patrons.
The Jefferson Hotel

This historic and beautiful hotel has long been a tradition for many tea-lovers in Richmond. In addition to the holiday tea, The Jefferson regularly offers both an afternoon tea and a chocolate lover’s tea. Reservations are required: 804-649-4710.
