Memorial Day events around Richmond are listed below include military tributes, arts, amusement park specials, recreation and attractions. Another distinct way to learn about those who served is to visit some of Richmond’s historic cemeteries which offer quiet solace of nature, window to the past and notable art.

Sandston Memorial Day Parade
Celebrate Memorial Day with a parade through Sandston and live music, activities, and exhibitor booths after!
Event Schedule
1 pm – Sandston Parade
Starts on Williamsburg Road where it intersects with Beulah Road. Proceeds west and disbands at North Confederate Avenue
2-4 pm – Block Party
Sandston Recreation Area on JB Finley Street
Memorial Day Remembrance
May 29 @ 9:00 am – 5:00 pm
Pamplin Historical Park & The National Museum of the Civil War Soldier will offer a full schedule of daily programs this Memorial Day.
The Park will open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and activities are included with regular museum admission.
Programs will also include a speaker, artillery firing followed by the presentation of the colors.
A Breakthrough Battlefield Tour will give visitors a chance to learn about the events of April 2, 1865 which is followed by bugle calls and a Civil War camp life demonstration. The viewing of “War So Terrible” which follows two Civil War soldiers, Benjamin Franklin Meyers of the Union and Andrew Jackson Stewart of the Confederacy, will be shown in the Battlefield Center.
